PROJECT PRESENTATION
Energy Retrofit Programme of Public Buildings in Ljubljana (EOL-1)

Currently, the second part of the energy retrofit programme of public buildings of Ljubljana is already underway, as part of which we will carry out an energy retrofit of an additional 11 buildings, generating annual savings over 300,000 euros. For the energy retrofit, which became an example of best practice both in Slovenia and European Union, we recently received the European award Best Energy Service Project.
- Ensured energy savings amount to 7,896 MWh or approximately one million euros per year (of which heat savings amount to 5,822 MWh and electricity savings amount to 2,075 MWh).
- The project reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 3,000 tonnes (approximately 150,000 trees or 350 hectares of forest).
- Increased use of renewable energy sources (electricity, biomass, district heating) by 16%.
Implemented measures include a renovation of heating systems, ventilation and air conditions, replacement on interior lighting using energy-efficient versions, replacement of existing heating systems with systems using renewable energy sources, replacement of windows and doors, renovation of facade and roof insulation.
The project also resulted in a new educational programme on the efficient use of water, energy and renewable sources for schools and kindergartens in the City of Ljubljana, which allocated 10% of the savings (representing approximately 50,000 euros per year) for children’s education in the Ljubljana region. The pedagogic programme for raising youth awareness of energy efficiency and efficient energy usage will be carried out for 15 years.
