The events will take place online via Zoom on Tuesday 15th March and Wednesdays 30th March and 13th April 2022

The contents of the course focuses on benefits of sustainability reporting in a profoundly changing institutional, regulatory and competitive environment, accelerated by the adoption of the EU Taxonomy and EU policies deriving from The Circular Economy Action Plan, Fit for 55 actions and national Recovery and Resilience Plans. We tackle sustainability reporting practices from a firm’s perspective and demonstrate how designing, monitoring and implementation of a sustainability strategy in a relevant stakeholder context provides new business opportunities and creates competitive advantages, particularly for circular innovators. In the seminars, we will also cover the perspective of financial institutions on sustainable reporting and make suggestions on how to communicate good corporate practices in the market from a sustainability reporting perspective.

The programme starts with an introduction to the conceptual and intentional framework of sustainability reporting, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and the GRI Standards, which are the basis for integrated sustainability reporting. The first part will provide insights from the perspective of a financial intermediary thanks to Slaven Mičković, senior risk management expert and CBA Faculty Member addressing the financial aspect of sustainability and sustainability reporting, and the involvement of other banking practitioners in the programme.

In the second part of the programme, Karin Huber-Heim, internationally renowned expert in sustainability reporting and CBA Faculty Member will lead the participants through the process of sustainability reporting and present, how organisations should approach this challenge internally and in a wider, stakeholder context. The importance of stakeholder management will be elaborated on by Barbara Kirn from Ecologists Without Borders, who will explain how to involve stakeholders in the reporting process.

In the third and final part of the programme, we will look at best practices of sustainability reporting in Slovenia. We will hear presentations from companies that are already practising sustainability reporting and those that are working more intensively on communicating and presenting of firm’s sustainability efforts and reporting to the wider public.

The programme will be moderated by Nina Meglič (SRIP, Circular Economy) and Jurij Giacomelli (founder, CBA), who will provide further insights into the sustainability reporting process.
